Description
Magnifica Humanitas (“Magnificent Humanity”), the first encyclical of Pope Leo XIV, reflects on how humanity can preserve its God-given dignity in an age increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence and rapid technological change. Drawing inspiration from the Church’s social teaching, particularly Rerum Novarum, Pope Leo argues that technology must remain at the service of the human person rather than dominate or diminish human freedom, truth, work, relationships, and moral responsibility. The encyclical calls for a society that places human dignity, the common good, justice, and solidarity at the centre of technological development, encouraging Christians and all people of goodwill to ensure that progress helps humanity become more fully human rather than less.
